With Respect
Koodiyattom maestro Padmasree Moozhikkulam Kochukuttan Chakyar remains in our minds not only as an artist who dedicated his entire life for protecting Kerala’s own version of Sanskrit theatre but also as a whole-hearted revolutionary who broke conventional barriers of casteism in temple art-forms. Efforts he made for recognising Koodiyattom by Unicef will be remembered forever. Refusing to digress from the fundamental stances, he opened up new teaching styles by coming out of orthodoxy. We bow before that flame which lighted all our initial paths and still illuminates our journey.
